D.C. Metro Area Thrives

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) recently published a new study detailing the performance of metropolitan areas across the country.  The good news was welcomed by many professionals and real estate experts alike.  In the fourth quarter of last year, home sales in over 70% of metro areas showed astounding growth.

But what’s even more exciting to hear are the promising figures coming from the Washington, D.C. metro housing market.  In January, homes-sales volume remained above the billion-dollar mark, reassuring many that 2014 could be a good year in real estate. While actual sales numbers fluctuated from December, the median home price rose, continuing the growth in the housing market.  In fact, home prices reached an 8-year high last month!

More importantly, these new figures are especially encouraging to homebuyers – and they should be!  This is an extraordinary time to buy a new home and many interested home shoppers are wasting no time.  In Prince William County, home to our Marina Landing townhomes, the median sale price has risen 3% over the past year and days on the market has fallen by 5%.
