Commitment to Community
Despite the tremendous growth we’ve enjoyed over the past four decades, we remain a small, locally-run firm made up of people who are deeply invested in our community. To that end, we consistently contribute significant amounts of time and resources to various charitable organizations, community service activities and fundraising events throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area. At Christopher, we’re not just working to serve our clients; we’re also working to serve our neighbors.
The Christopher Companies contributed to the initial development of Women Giving Back (WGB), a group associated with HomeAid of Northern Virginia. Working with area homeless shelters, WGB organizes donations and runs a monthly store for their benefit.
Opening a new store, May 2011, WGB will now have a permanent place in Sterling, Virginia to operate its monthly store for the benefit of giving women a hand up in getting back into the mainstream of life. Debbie Rosenstein continues to serve on its Board of Directors. For more information on this organization please view the following web site www.NVBIA.com Please go to the Home Aid section and follow to Women Giving Back.
Habitat For Humanity Northern Virginia and The Christopher Companies have enjoyed an innovative partnership. In 2005, The Christopher Companies partnered with Habitat to built three single family homes and renovate an existing stone house in its Briarwood Trace community in Fairfax County. These were the first single family, detached, affordable dwelling units to be built in Fairfax County by Habitat. Lots were donated by The Christopher Companies while the homes were underwritten by individuals, faith communities, subcontractors and corporate sponsors. Each home was sold to a first-time homebuyer who qualified for Fairfax County's Housing Choice Voucher Program as well as Habitat's homeownership program. Attractive affordable homes that enhance the neighborhood are a credit to this partnership.
Christopher is proud of its dedication to community service. Still active with the Habitat Northern Virginia affiliate, Debbie Rosenstein serves on its Board of Directors and new opportunities to serve disadvantaged families is still a goal of The Christopher Companies.
